The Larry Smith Invitational Rook Tournament
Tournament Regulations

3 – Tournament Execution

3.1 – Initial Team & Table Assignment

At the start of the Tournament, each player will be assigned to a team, and each team to a table, based upon the seedings.

3.2 – Start of Each Round

For each round, when the Timekeeper says to begin, the two teams at each table will play Rook according to the House Rules for either four hands, or twenty mintes, whichever comes first. During the round, one player at each table will keep score on an official Score Sheet.

3.3 – End of Each Round

When twenty minutes have elapsed, the Timekeeper will announce that the round is over. If any teams are still playing at that point, they must finish the hand in play, and then stop.

If a table finishes four hands before the twenty minute period is over, then play at that table stops.

If a hand is dealt, but no one takes the bid (everyone passes), then that hand does not count as one of the four hands allowed per round.

When play at a table has stopped, one player from that table should deliver the official Score Sheet from that table to the Scorekeeper. The other players should remain at the table to await their assignments for the next round.

3.4 – Team Reassignment

After the Scorekeeper has entered each round's results, the computer scoring system will generate a listing of every player's new score, as well as team and table assignments for the next round. A copy of that listing will be delivered to each table, at which time all players should move to their new tables and prepare to begin a new round with their assigned partners.

It is crucial that everyone changes tables and teams according to the assignment given by the computer. If not, then the whole scoring system will not work. This assignment algorithm is intended to provide a more competitive, and thus enjoyable, tournament for everyone (Secton 4.1.4).

Do not start playing again until the Timekeeper says to begin. Each round proceeds as described beginning in Section 3.2 above.

3.5 – Award Ceremony

At the end of the Tournament, after a minimum of five rounds has been played, the winners will be announced and be presented with their awards. Final standings for all players will be distributed.
