Saturday, March 4, 2000 12:30pm Central Park
After a quick lunch at a cafe in the Met, we set out to explore Central
Park. Going west just above 79th Street, we made our way up to Belvedere Castle,
south by the Lake, through Strawberry Fields, past Tavern on the Green,
and eventually to the Merchants Gate.
We learned along the way that New Yorkers are not the rude idiots that John
Rocker might have us believe that they are. One jogger in the park stopped to
ask us (very nicely) if we knew which way was east he had become disoriented
and couldnt find his way out. Another man enjoying the sunny day helped us
(without being asked) to find a good view of the Lake, which is where the picture
below was taken.
